Ride For Pride

Some of the Pride Riders ready to raise funds for The Gay Alliance, and they hope you will consider sponsoring one, or all, of them.

What is the Ride For Pride?  It is a 70 mile ride starting in West Henrietta, going all the way to Palmyra before turning back to return to West Henrietta

When is the Ride For Pride?  Saturday, September 11th

Why are we doing this 70 mile Bike Ride?  We are a group of individuals that are raising a minimum of $100 each and riding over 65 miles in support of the Gay Alliance of Genesee Valley.  When asked to write a blurb about why we would ride over 100 kilometers to raise money for the Gay Alliance.  At first I figured I would shamelessly steal from the Gay Alliance’s own website and say “The Purpose of the RIDE FOR PRIDE is to educate about the diversity, issues and goals of the LGBT Community.  To provide a forum to celebrate the culture, history and accomplishments of LGBT individuals.

To provide an opportunity for networking and outreach by the many businesses, services and organizations that openly welcome LGBT people their friends and families.”  Blah, blah, blah.  I realized that while it sounded really good and made us seem like a group of noble individuals, the truth of the matter is, we are people that thought it would be a the perfect way to give back to an outstanding organization.  They have done so much for the LGBT community and are comprised of people that are passionate about what they do.  The fact that we get to look like “Knights in Rainbow Armor” while spending quality time with friends is just icing on the cake.
