InQueery – English Country Dancing
- This event has passed.
Lisa Brown is vice-president of the Country Dancers of Rochester, director of the Meryton Assembly Dancers and Regional Coordinator of the Jane Austen Society of North America. She has taught and called English Country Dance for the past five years.
Lisa will be teaching gender-free social dancing for all ages (families too). English Country Dance (ECD) is an elegant, accessible and popular form of community social dance enjoyed by people all over the world. Dancers move in a number of specific “figures”, sometimes holding hands, sometimes by themselves. Each dance is prompted by a caller, so that each figure and movement is called in time to the music; you don’t need to rely on your memory alone to know what to do. A simple walking step is used and no partner is necessary.
Parking is always free and available in the lot we share with the Auditorium Theatre. If they are charging to park, simply tell the attendant you are attending a Gay Alliance event and they will waive the fee.
