Description

Kennan Beckstrandt will bringing a touch of Japanese elegance to the LGBTQ Resource Center in an introduction to the classic account of the meaning and symbolism of the Japanese art of Ikebana. >p>Kennan is a renaissance man, speaking several languages fluently, one of which is Japanese. He is an educator and has taught in Japan as well as several colleges in the United State.

The Japanese culture values the creativity and reflection of natural laws in the art of Ikebana (Ike—living, Bana—flower). A demonstration and discussion on the art of Ikebana with the philosophies, the aesthetic meanings, and the qualities that make this Japanese art form so admired by many Western cultures.
