Housing and Home Care
This mixed-use development is located in Hayes Valley on two city blocks bounded by Haight Street, Laguna Street, Hermann Street, and Buchanan Street. A. F. Evans, along with Mercy Housing, has been selected by the University of California to redevelop the former University of California Berkeley Extension Campus to provide multifamily apartments, public spaces, and retail space. The project will include a combination of new construction and preservation of historically significant buildings. The project would accommodate up to 450 residential units, neighborhood retail and community serving spaces. A residential component will include senior housing built by openhouse, a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to serve Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender seniors. The project would provide a variety of open spaces, courtyards, pedestrian mews, and a large public park.
