What do love and forgiveness have to do with community safety?    Everything!

The insidious nature of homo and trans-phobia has caused many in the LGBTQI community to face staggering levels of rejection which sever important relationships. The pain of these losses, when left unattended, contributes to decreased psychological well-being and a general unhappiness with life. Abusing drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism or looking for love in all the wrong places can leave people vulnerable to victimization. For many, the pain of rejection is played out over and over as a cycle of anger, self-destructive behavior, victimization, and forgiveness takes hold.

Learning to forgive and to love are important skills that help break this cycle. Twice each year the Community Safety Program hosts a multi-week conversation on love and forgiveness that is free and open to the LGBTQI community, family, friends and allies.
