Alternatives for Independent Youth (AIY) aims to provide stable living situations for independent youth, including maintenance of stable housing, establishment of income source and accomplishment of other objectives determined by the youth and case manager as required for independent living. A plan for developing parenting skills may be established for youth that are also parents.
The Emergency Shelter component provides short term shelter placement for RHY-Runaway and Homeless youth, ages 10-18 years of age. The shelter component utilizes Hillside foster homes and is available for up to a 7 day placement. Case management services is provided to the youth and their family with a goal for the youth to be re-united home or to be placed within an alternative living situation.
Monroe County youths with the goal and ability to live independently are eligible.
